PARENTS AS PARTNERS

Permission or Free Access

You have the right to access any areas of my home used for child care during business hours. You are welcome to visit or drop-in unannounced to observe your child. Please schedule time in advance if you would like to have a meeting with me or my staff, so we can arrange to speak away from the children.

Communication Plan with Parents/Guardians

The provider and staff of Happy Tots will keep in constant communication with the parents of the childcare through the following methods:

  • The provider will respond to calls, texts, and emails frequently to assist parents during and after childcare hours.

  • The provider will host an optional quarterly parent/teacher conference. Such meetings will be planned in advance to accommodate busy schedules.

  • Urgent notifications will be shared verbally and in writing.

  • Flyers will be placed in prominent places to share information about upcoming special events, outings, and to remind parents of holiday closures or temporary changes in the center's operating hours.

Care of Young Children

The provider will develop a flexible schedule to match the needs of infants and toddlers at Happy Tots. Infants who are not mobile will be placed in different positions throughout the day and involved in all appropriate developmental activities. Children who are becoming mobile will have access to clean and safe spaces to practice crawling, cruising, and walking. Each child will receive individual attention including plenty of time for talking, cuddling, and playing with a wide variety of soft toys and musical objects.

Food Service Practices

All meals and snacks are prepared and served in accordance with the U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines. A weekly menu of meals will be available for viewing on the notice board in the daycare.

Nutritious meals and snacks will be provided to each child at no extra cost to the parents. An example of a typical day menu is:

  • Breakfast: Cheerios, Banana, & Milk

  • Snacks: Fruit Slices, Milk & Graham Crackers

  • Lunch: Rice or Spaghetti, Meatballs, Vegetables, & Juice

Emergency Preparedness

Here at Happy Tots safety is very important to us. Our property is fully gated and always under surveillance.  In addition, to best prepare for emergencies or natural disasters, we practice fire evacuation (fire drill) monthly, earthquake drills quarterly, and a lock down drill annually.

Happy Tots has a few chickens, goats, and sheep. These pets will not be on licensed areas of the property during regular business hours. The children and staff will take occassional field trips to visit the animals.  We also have a friendly family dog, Henry.
